To begin with we will be concentrating on support for two databases: CouchDB and MongoDB. But even from this simple example the intuitive way CouchDB works should be clear. To start, set up an instance of CouchDB by initially going here. Of course, this is just the beginning. Once on that page, fill in the “Sign Up” fields on the right side of the page and hit “SEND”. This was the beginning of a great adventure for me… What's the link between CouchDB and Javascript? CouchDB is a fast, schema-less database that stores JavaScript Objects, and exposes a restful HTTP interface and uses JavaScript as the query language. He is also a regular contributor to the IBM developerWorks library. Joe is the author of Beginning CouchDB, and is co-author of the forthcoming title HTML5 in Action. I had to try it so I opened a terminal and wrote sudo apt-get install couchdb. CouchDB is the scalable, portable, simple database engine that is helping open source cloud architects put their data stores onto a firm foundation.
